DH and I are going to Paris for three nights in December. We'd like to stay in Montmartre. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Can’t help, but going to follow for the comments. We are going as a family of 4 in December, staying in 9th arrondissement, and hoping for some ideas on what to do. Am v excited, hoping it will be v atmospheric with the Xmas lights, etc.

What sort of budget are you looking at OP?

Eeve · 10/10/2021 13:05

Probably up to £150/night?

The IBIS Montmartre is one of the best budget hotels in the area.

Right next to the cemetery and there's a lovely little cafe a few steps down from the hotel front door for your Paris petit déjeuner.

I always stay there when in Paris. Rooms are cozy and very clean.

Timhotel Montmartre is always my go to. Right be Abesses station.

Agree with Timhotel Montmartre. Ideal location in a lovely square, near the metro station. Clean and reasonably priced.

We stayed in the Ibis also near to the cemetery and near to Sacre Coeur. It was also round the corner from Moulin Rouge so it was a great spot not only to people watch and drink red wine but also to explore the rest of Paris. Loved it and hope you have a fab time.

Pinkstegosaurus · 10/10/2021 13:39

We stayed in a boutique hotel near Sacre Coeur about 5 years ago that worked out reasonably as we booked through Secret Hotel/Secret Escapes (can’t remember which!) so maybe try there? You can usually work out what the ‘secret’ hotel is called as the descriptions tend to be the same on booking.com/tripadvisor etc.

Amazing, thanks all!

We stayed at the citadines which is an aparthotel. We had dds with us. Not far from Moulin Rouge and a fairly busy area.

DazedandConcerned · 10/10/2021 16:58

Contact Alize Montmartre. Breakfast is great too.

BirdIsland · 10/10/2021 17:10

Not quite Montematre, but Le Chat Noir was great 🐈‍⬛

StarlightLady · 14/10/2021 12:22

OP, are you sorted?

It’s worth remembering that Parisian room sizes are quite small. In addition, unless you go for an aparthotel such as Citadines, tea and coffee making facilities are not very common in French hotels.

‘Suggest you take a travel kettle (and a cork screw!).

Dillydollydingdong · 14/10/2021 12:32

TIM Hotel but get a room high up so that you get the daylight, and maybe a view.

Eeve · 24/10/2021 20:26

So, I booked Mom'art. It sounds lovely - really hope it is!!

Have a lovely time op! I'd love to go there, mainly because I love the Red Balloon but I don't think many of the film locations are still standing.
