Self employed and matb1 form

I've tried searching for my answer but not having any luck so hope someone can help.
I'm pregnant and self employed, I have recently sent my matb1 form off to HMRC. Without making a copy! My husband's work is now asking for a copy. Does anyone know if the form will be returned to me, or whether I can access it? I wondered if it might be linked to my government gateway account maybe? Any ideas? Thanks!

give hmrc a call and ask them to help?

Ellegirl · 09/10/2021 14:55

Yes I will do next week, just thought I'd ask if anyone knew. I'm so used to googling most questions and finding the info and answers!

I'd get another copy to be honest, HMRC are months behind and it's doubtful you'll receive it back.

I applied around 6 weeks ago and have received my reply last week. My MATB form hasn’t been returned.

Will your husbands work accept some other proof of your pregnancy?
I dont believe you will get the form back.

My husband's work have asked for both children, but we luckily took a photo and they accepted that as the matb1 wasn't return either time.

I wonder if your midwife is able to issue another one?

Ellegirl · 09/10/2021 17:11

Thanks everyone, midwife said she couldn't issue another one as they would register different codes and it may mess up my claim. She did suggest using proof of my due date from my notes so hopefully that will be enough for my husband's work!

His employer doesn't even need a copy of your MatB1 for him to get leave and pay

www.gov.uk/paternity-pay-leave/how-to-claim

Says you don't need proof of pregnancy or birth to get paternity leave and pay. They don't really have a right to ask for access to your MatB1 details
