End of October or end of February?
DS1 went out just before lockdown started. Hopefully he will be able to visit us next March but we are hoping to go out to see him and his partner either end of October 22 or Feb 23.

I'd like to have decent sunshine if I'm going for 3 weeks and paying a shed load of money Grin

February

Depends if you like hot weather. It could be high 30s in Feb. It's not that pleasant imo. I'd prefer October personally but my ideal summer holiday is 20-25 degrees!

I'm not sure if you mean South Australia (the state) or just southern Australia more generally, but either way February will be much hotter than October. You'll get lovely Spring weather in October but not much by way of temperatures above the low 20s.

Where in Southern Australia, that covers a lot of territory? I would say January though

Feb will be hot and sunny, Oct could be cool and/or rainy. I would pick Feb every time, although the sea was surprisingly freezing in Esperance and Denmark even then.

Adelaide...
I'm veering towards February now... I like warmth and would like to tour around as we are hoping to go for 3 weeks.

I’d do end of Feb. kids will be back at school but in October you are more likely to run into school holidays
Also the weather will be better

Sitting having a coffee in my garden in the Adelaide Hills this morning... however apart from the odd few days the weather's been pretty cold and wet up until now, and Wednesday/Thursday are due to be 10 degrees, pouring rain and thunderstorms! If you fancy heat I'd definitely go for February (but you do run the risk of it being REALLY hot so get accommodation with a/c!) Schools are back in February but everything is still very alive, lots of festivals/events and fun stuff to do, I'd definitely say February.

February in Adelaide is wonderful but can be VERY hot (late 30s, early 40s even). Feb/March is festival season - it's Adelaide Fringe (the world's second biggest Fringe festival, second only to Edinburgh) and Adelaide Festival and a million smaller festivals. LOADS to do. Kids are back at school 30 January ish but still VERY much summer weather. October in my mind is glorious in terms of weather, but if you can withstand very very hot (it's a dry heat, like the med, never humid) then you'll be ok.

As above, DEFINITELY get accommodation with air con if you're coming in Feb.

Shout with any more questions - i'm also in Adelaide so we can help :)

October can be rainy and chilly. Also HOT. You would need to pack for every kind of weather. February is almost always warm to hot. If you’re planning on going to beaches, etc… go then.
