Went to see the film on Wednesday. I had no idea whatsoever that she had her first child at thirteen years old. She had another child a coup!e of years later. It was never stated explicitly but the strong implication was that she had been abused by a family friend, and he was the father of her children.
Anyone seen the film? It was pretty disturbing.

Op I have no awareness of this film is it new or a re release!

I really admire her music and know little about her life.

Film has been out about a week. Quite eye opening really, I too love her music,

I also went to see it and like you, knew absolutely nothing about her life. Was horrified to find out she'd been raped as a child multiple times. Absolutely dreadful. She was an amazing woman.

The film is great albeit disturbing.
