Anyone know anything about Just Eat?

no contact from the restaurant. They are still showing available for delivery on the app. Before I blasted them in a review I thought I'd call them.

They say they had no delivery drivers. I said it's pretty poor not letting me know directly. They said couldn't see my contact details unless they accepted the order.

Am I being bullshitted?

That should start

I've just had an order cancelled with

I got the wrong order delivered by Just Eat a few months ago. They were absolutely useless and I didn't get my money back for a month. Literally just shrugged their shoulders and sort of said oh well... Obviously I ate what had been delivered in error, but only because I was starving hungry - and the food I received was vegetarian when my order was full on carnivorous!

WeAreTheHeroes · 08/10/2021 12:36

They pay to be on there so are responsible for their own deliveries. Has your card been charged?

Bluntness100 · 08/10/2021 12:37

How would they let you know if they didn’t accept your order? That is letting you know. What more do you want?

What’s your review going to say, showed as available but no drivers so they didn’t accept my order. All good ordered with someone else.

MintyCedric · 08/10/2021 12:40

Dd worked ina kebab shop that did Just Eat until a few weeks ago. The shop should be able to see your details and should have rejected your order at the outset or contacted you.

Sounds very like the sort of BS by DDs former boss would pull which is one of the many reasons she kept!

JauntyJinty · 08/10/2021 12:40

They said couldn't see my contact details unless they accepted the order.

So they hadn't accepted your order? Having trouble seeing what the isse is here? Unless I'm misunderstanding and they have charged you and then not delivered?

MintyCedric · 08/10/2021 12:40

left

MimieD · 08/10/2021 12:41

Not sure about what your issue is...is you problem with the restaurant or Just Eat? Many restaurants on Just Eat have their own delivery drivers so if they have no drivers available they can actually switch to unavailable. However, this is the responsibility of the restaurant not Just Eat....

Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 13:11

I think they cancelled my order because they didn't realise we were so close. Im surprised it isnt a standard courtesy calling the customer to let them know. When I called they were applying pressure to come collect and claimed they couldn't contact me because they couldn't see my details.

I dont like being lied to

OP posts:
Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 13:12

@MintyCedric thank you that's what I thought

OP posts:
Somebodylikeyew · 08/10/2021 13:14

Did the app notify you that they had declined the order?

safariboot · 08/10/2021 13:15

I ordered McDonalds from them once. More like Just Don't Eat, complete no call no show. I got a refund promptly but won't touch them again.

Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 13:19

Actually no. There was a email that I nearly missed. It surprised me there was no explanation. If it was a choice of food issue we could have switched.

OP posts:
Newnameforamo · 08/10/2021 13:22

I honestly don’t know why I’ve gone back to them more than once.
I’ve had issues with time (over 90 minutes to deliver) and also missing items from my order.
They issued refunds where necessary but it’s not the point.
A takeaway is supposed to be a treat. When you receive half a meal and then half the money back or you wait for such a long time for your food your children end up needing a snack before they even eat it ruins the treat.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 08/10/2021 13:27

None of these delivery 'services', whether Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats, are up to much in my view.

They offer these platforms but then claim no responsibility when a fuck-up happens. Try getting through to any kind of customer services with Deliveroo or Uber Eats -- it's impossible.

They're all shit businesses, that deliver precisely zero value, and leave the restaurants, the workers and the customers utterly shafted.

Meanwhile the valuations continue to explode. Turbo-capitalism in action I suppose.

I don't bother any more -- I call the restaurant direct, and pick the food up myself. Like in the old days!

Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 13:31

I wish I could pick up, there would have been a much more reasonable choice. DS is having a day where is long term medical conditions are playing him up, leaving the house isnt happening today. I got the takeaway to cheer him up

OP posts:
Whiteswans74 · 08/10/2021 13:32

The restaurant wouldn't care about the delivery or distance because that's done by a courier. Either way I don't get why you are so angry about it.

Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 13:41

Because I'm a grumpy old woman (or at least I feel it today). I dont like to see DS disappointed, hes a good natured soul.

OP posts:
baroqueandblue · 08/10/2021 13:42

OP, with some of these responses, bear in mind that very profitable platforms like Just Eat pay anonymised marketing staff to monitor public online forums and review sites to nip negative publicity in the bud. In this sort of instance, they'll imply you have nothing to complain about Hmm

Rainbowshine · 08/10/2021 13:46

I have given up on Just Eat, Über Eat etc as they just put an extra step in the ordering process that isn’t needed.

I Google the takeaway for the number and then ring them up. They can still take card payments and you know what is going on if they can’t deliver or there’s a long wait because everyone else is having takeaway that night.

Whiteswans74 · 08/10/2021 13:46

Massive drip feed there op and explains why you were angry. Hope your ds can have lunch from somewhere else!

WorraLiberty · 08/10/2021 13:49

Are you sure you got the 'thumbs up' from them in the first place?

I've ordered before and got the thumbs down and the message that says 'This restaurant is not currently accepting orders'.

One time I was waiting ages and then realised I hadn't spotted the thumbs down.

Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 14:00

Hes had a sandwich. He really wants an Indian and none of the others Indians are open for delivery until later. A peanut butter sandwich doesn't really compare to a prawn biriyani but hes too exhausted to complain even if he wanted too!

I might phone the restaurant when it opens to check

In this sort of instance, they'll imply you have nothing to complain about hmm
It felt that way when I called the restaurant too.

OP posts:
MintyCedric · 08/10/2021 14:27

I'm not sure it's Just Eat so much as the takeaways themselves, certainly in our area.

Our regular Chinese and Indian are pretty much faultless via Just Eat, ditto pizza deliveries. Subway and Taco Bell okay on the one occasion each I've used them, albeit lukewarm in the case of the latter.
KFC is hit and miss, can't get McDonalds.

The horror stories DD told me about the place she used to work (the manager not the staff) were a real eye-opener though.
