Anyone got a fruit bowl that isn't a bit shit?

Just that really. Have a wire fruit bowl to improve air flow to lower fruit so it doesn't go squishy too quickly. But the wire is cutting in to the perfectly ripe pears. Anyone got the perfect solution to this first world problem??

the fruit and veg drawer in the fridge.
admittedly it doesn't look as nice as a bowl on the table but fruit keeps fresh and a lot more nutricious than outside.

First prize for best thread title this year Grin.

I think mine's quite nice but am ignorant as to how lovely others might be so am interested to see what comes up.

Mine is a sort of cream, china, wide open and low.

SheWoreYellow · 08/10/2021 12:40

I’ve got an old wooden one from Etsy. It’s lovely. I don’t find the lack of airflow a problem.

PhiRhoSigma · 08/10/2021 12:41

Nope. I just looked. Ours is a disgrace. Yes it has some bananas in it, but it also has an almost completely dried out lemon, an apple with a bruise that is now clearly fermenting, then inexplicably a cut-up expired credit card, a large rusty bolt, a plastic ruler with a Tinkerbell logo and some discarded pony tail bands. Go figure. Gets used like a bloody bin.

Mine is a lovely glass bowl (With a few chips around the edge) so you can see what's lurking at the bottom but otherwise sounds very similar 😂

I have this one. Bananas at the top and everything else in the bottom.

Not sure why there’s two pictures 🙈😳

NoSquirrels · 08/10/2021 13:01

Nope. They’re all shit, mostly because you must mentally resign yourself to being the only fecker who polices it for manky apples and mouldy lemons. It’s not the bowl’s fault, alas.

MrsMoastyToasty · 08/10/2021 13:06

I might as well give our cut glass one to the local charity shop. I buy fruit, it goes bad and I end up putting manky apples in the food waste bin.

Maybe I should offer a service to Tesco where I collect all their manky fruit and put it in the waste for them.
(It doesn't help that I live with a couple of fruit and salad dodgers).

RussianSpy101 · 08/10/2021 13:07

I like this one!

I have this dual layered concoction.

It looks much better filled with fruit! Bananas on top obvs

furbabymama87 · 08/10/2021 13:12

Mine is a huge decorative glass bowl from TK Maxx that I use as a fruit bowl.

NashvilleQueen · 08/10/2021 13:17

I only allow lemons and limes for aesthetic purposes

Which tier do you keep your classic MN show pineapple?
TheGirlWhoLived · 08/10/2021 13:24

Next to the show watermelon and the lemon and limes in the naice fruit bowl in the kitchen. This is the kids fruit bowl mainly

tiredanddangerous · 08/10/2021 13:24

I've come to the conclusion that fruit bowls are just generally shit. I've been using the same wooden one for about 15 years now and it badly needs replacing but I can't find anything I want to replace it with!

TheGirlWhoLived · 08/10/2021 13:25

Grin yes reader, I am that far up my own ass that I have two fruit bowls Wink

Soubriquet · 08/10/2021 13:26

We got got given a lovely crystal bowl from a family who’s mum had unfortunately died. It’s perfect. Would never have bought one before but now I would again

chesirecat99 · 08/10/2021 13:27

I have these 2. They are quite flat so they don't dig in like wire. The larger one is also big enough that you don't need to stack the fruit so you can see everything and you don't have the weight of the fruit on top pushing the fruit at the bottom into the metal.

This one as a fruit bowl:

This one for citrus by the juicer:

They are a bit nineties though, which is when I was given them Grin

bumblingbovine49 · 08/10/2021 13:29

Mine is attached ( somewhat empty at the moment) We have had it for years now and fruit stays ok for ages . It hasn't completely solved the banana problem but those tend to get eaten the fastest anyway

freshcarnation · 08/10/2021 13:32

I've got cut glass ones. Always good second hand cut glass in charity shops

WaterScarf · 08/10/2021 13:34

All my fruit stays in the fridge apart from bananas which I rarely buy and just go in a random bowl.

purplesequins · 08/10/2021 13:35

I only put a bowl with fruit out when we have visitors.
otherwise fruit lives in the fridge.

After my own heart! We hide bananas in a cupboard anyway to stop DD living off them. Then I have a lemon/lime bowl, orange bowl, apple bowl, plum bowl… Just in nice ceramic bowls.
