Should I call vet emergency number?

I took mums cat to our vet earlier. It's the same vet I use and my mum uses. Basically she lost the use of her back legs and the vet said they would sedate and xray her and they would call me before 6 (as that's when they close). I haven't heard anything from the vet and when I call it goes to voicemail.

We're not expecting a good prognosis to be honest but I expected to hear from him. On the voicemail there's a mobile number for emergencies. Should I call? If it's not his number then it's a partner in the same practice who could maybe let me know anyway.

I've called and left a message.

Is it just me that's thinking this is quite bad "service"? Not sure that's the right word. This is my mums cat and I don't have much of an emotional connection but if it was my dog I'd be in there banging on the door to find out what was going on?

Do call, although our number is linked to an external ooh provider.

They will probably call shortly, often call about in patients happen after consultation periods but I would expect an update sooner in this scenario tbh.

That's really bad service, I'd have been there before 6. Why did you have to leave her there?

moredogsthansense · 07/10/2021 19:48

They will be there and working but just put the phones on to stop more clients turning up. I am sure they will have contacted OP by now. Doubtless they were too busy to call before 6. Every day in veterinary practice is like this at the moment.

The vet called me back - they had the wrong number on my file (even though they have called me multiple times before!)

Nothing showed up on xray so cat possibly has a clot so is on meds and we'll see in the morning.

Gubanc I left her because they wanted to sedate her and xray her. Her legs weren't working - my mum can't look after her like that (Mum can barely look after herself!) I wasn't going to be staying while they did that. She's going to be staying overnight now.
