Help with DD's suspected UTI

4 yr old DD has UTI symptoms, on and off for a month or so. They got worse 2 weeks ago, sudden urge to pee, painful urination, wetting at night.

New GP says no UTI as negative dip test and lab culture, thinks its related to constipation. I'm not at all convinced, she had some issues with this at 2 so I'm used to the signs.

Been back and forth to the GP, given 3 urine samples and in the mean time my DD is suffering, she looks under the weather, irritable, in pain and refusing drinks so she doesn't pee as it hurts too much. At my wits end and at a loss what to do next!

Obvs trying to ply her with drinks, checking she's wiping front to back etc anyone had similar and could advise?

Have you considered it might be vulvovaginitis? Similar symptoms and quite common in young girls of they aren't wiping properly yet. My daughter had it a few times when she was younger.

Yes, looked for redness/irritation but nothing abnormal. Is there any other symptoms? We don't do bubble baths, laundry wash with non-bio and no soap down there since she had a case if it a few months ago.

Hiya we have had a very similar situation to you. Last time my dd was ill the dr said if her sample was negative for uti they would bring her in and swab her for strep B (the one they check you for in pregnancy) he said it was quite rare but worth considering given her ongoing problems. She did have a uti so they haven't done the swab but I thought it was worth sharing with you
