How much to spend on the present if invited to a birthday party?

We have our first invitation to another child's birthday party. It's two hours in a soft play with food provided.

How much would you spend on a present? I'm sure some would answer 'whatever you can afford' but I'm trying to strike the right balance.

Between £5-£10 usually

RussianSpy101 · 06/10/2021 22:40

£10 is the usual around here.

Smyths have a £10 and under aisle which usually has decent gifts in.

DDiva · 06/10/2021 22:41

£5 is fine....

SpamIAm · 06/10/2021 22:41

£5

ApolloandDaphne · 06/10/2021 22:42

About £5. Less if you can bag a bargain.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 06/10/2021 22:43

Between £5 and £15 I think is a reasonable amount.

DelurkingAJ · 06/10/2021 22:44

I buy small presents on offer so Lego sets at 2 for £15 look generous but fit my bidget. But more for a best friend!

Timeisavirtue · 06/10/2021 22:46

Usually £10, for closer friends I give £15.... also depends on age too...

Happycow · 06/10/2021 22:47

About £10-£12 is normal here

Happycow · 06/10/2021 22:48

But some peole spend less and its not a problem!

WhichHairBear · 06/10/2021 22:48

£10 and I usually get a sweet treat too. Argos board games, 2 for £15 are good for two parties if you like to plan/buy in advance.

Thanks you, very helpful. Sounds like I'm in the right ball park on £8-£10 which is what I had in mind.
