It looks like it. Poor baby. Pharmacist can probably advise.

@Bookridden good shout, will get a pharmacist to have a look in the morning.

@Nearlyadoctor I thought you could only catch them whilst someone had a active cold sore and I haven’t noticed anyone kiss him with one 😩

You can catch them if you are a carier of the virus unfortunately. My sister is and gets coldbsores every winter or when stressed or run down. Poor dote x

Generally yes but in the very early stages a cold sore may not be obvious even to the person who had it. The other possibility is impetigo, or even a mouth ulcer although not usually that far out on the lips. It is unusual for young babies to get a cold sore. He/she hasn’t just scratched/cut their mouth and then due to dribbling etc it looks more circular than it is?

Nearlyadoctor · 06/10/2021 20:09

@Coldsorehelp1234 - what Pandorascharm says is not technically correct, you don’t catch them if you’re a carrier of the virus. If you carry the virus it manifests itself in some people as cold sores, particularly when you are stressed, rundown , exposed to sunshine , or extreme cold. You have to be a carrier to get a cold sore, it’s not if you’re a carrier you catch them.

@Nearlyadoctor I thought it may be that, especially as he is teething and drooling more, then I saw someone today who said it looked like he had a cold sore so made me second guess
