Should I tell them I’m locked into my current employer for a year?

Super quick question .... I be been invited to have a chat with a potential employer, it’s just an opening conversation and they approached me

I am locked into my current employer until may 2022 and would then have a 6 month notice period so essentially couldn’t start work for a year .... should I mention this before I meet them? They’d probably be expecting the six months but not a year :/

You don’t know why I’m deliberating this so much, it’s a simple thing but I’ve over thought it so views welcome !

See what the conversation is about, then yes, tell them. No point in talking to them about possibly working for them if they dont know the situation

How are you locked in until May 2022? Is it that you’d need to pay back money spent on training or something similar? If so, the new employer might be able to cover that cost if they really want you.

Can't you hand your notice in 6 months before may? As you will still be there until you're no longer 'locked in'

Thanks all - I have a significant bonus payable if I’m still employed next may, I cannot be working my notice at that point And the new employer couldn’t cover it

I think I’ll tell them now and see if they still want to meet
