111 or pharmacy tomorrow?

UTI started this morning. Had pain in my sides by midday so urine sample was sent off to GP. They prescribed antibiotics which I didn't pick up as it was starting to ease up in the afternoon and most of the pain went away (stupid I know).

This evening though it's worse than ever. Massive pain all the time, blood every time I go to the toilet (about every 15/20 mins at the moment) and starting to feel shivery. Do I stick it out until pharmacy opens in the morning to get my prescription or phone 111 or walk in centre?

Current treatment is bed with hot water bottle, paracetamol and gallons of water.

Don't know if I'm just being a wuss!

Are there any pharmacies open near you at this time?

painauchocanot · 05/10/2021 22:19

@GreenLunchBox

A quick Google shows a late night pharmacy open near me but would I not need a prescription?

I’d phone 111, tomorrow morning is a long way off if you’re going every 15mins. Even if they just give you peace of mind to rest up

The wait for a call back with 111 for a prescribing clinician will take you well into the early morning if it's anywhere like where I live- I would wait and collect in the morning if it were me.

Same here

From the symptoms you've described I can't imagine 111 doing more than the same prescription your GP has prescribed. And nowhere will be open now for you to collect.

I'd call 111. If you've got significant pain and shivering,I'd be worried about developing a kidney infection.( this is with the memory of DDs recent kidney infection fresh in my mind...)
If they don't get back to you to start with you can call again if you get worse, and if they do and you feel better by then worst case is a broken nights sleep ,which you sound as if you are probably having anyway.
Hope its sorted soon.

Agreed

Definitely call 11, these can turn nasty very quickly. Hope you feel better soon.

Ell17 · 05/10/2021 22:35

111 for sure. Shivery and passing blood sounds like it's leading to a kidney infection (without worrying you!) I hope you get some help and heal soon ♥️

newmummy8789 · 05/10/2021 22:37

If you call 111 you can just ask for a GP to send a prescription to your closest 24 hour pharmacy to pick it up. Get it ASAP and take them with some pain killers and hopefully you'll feel slightly better in the morning.
You can have a few doses before the GP opens first thing.

Xxlcx19 · 05/10/2021 22:45

If the GP sent a prescription you can pick it up from any pharmacy (as long as the original one didn’t dispense it at the time). The late night one would be able to do it. Call them 😊

if it gets unbearable go to A&E

painauchocanot · 06/10/2021 00:01

Thanks all. Waiting in the queue for 111 as the pain is getting bad and no let up in bleeding sadly. Long night ahead.

It's ok to go to A&E if you need to. Do you have anything at home to check your temp?
Daisy4569 · 06/10/2021 06:51

Hope you’re feeling better this morning

painauchocanot · 06/10/2021 09:35

So 111 wanted to send an ambulance for me, I politely declined and decided to wait it out longer. (Apparently no walk in centres near me and I didn't fancy sitting for hours in A&E when I could be in bed at least). Managed a little bit of sleep and feeling a bit brighter this morning. Antibiotics started now so hopefully that's the end of that! Thanks everyone!
