Trick or Treating this year

I wonder with Halloween being on a Sunday, will people be opening the door to trick or treaters on Saturday eve? I was thinking about having a mini party for my 6 yr old daughter, and taking them round the block then watching a film, but not sure if it’ll be a total flop!
Thanks all

Yes although we tend to miss most people at our door as we are out ourselves .

Trick or treat is only on 31st regardless of which day of the week it falls. Some people get really annoyed at knocking before then.

We will definitely only be taking part on 31st. It gets way too expensive to have people knocking over several days, as well as very intrusive.

We will be doing our kids party though on the Saturday and making our haunted gingerbread house and carving the pumpkins ready for the Sunday.

31st or nothing for us. I mean Halloween largely falls on a week night….

Justjoinedforthis · 05/10/2021 07:17

Hmm good points. It’s weird I would be fine with a weeknight but have a bit of a mental block on sundays.

I'd be caught by surprise if I got trick or treaters on any other night then the 31st of October. Even though it's a Sunday, it's a one day only affair in my book.

We won’t be doing trick or treating for the second year running due to covid. Not keen on hoards coming to the door, touching doorbell, standing in close proximity and putting hands in sweet bowl. Party inside instead again this year. Wont be decorating outside so no one will knock as we usually go all out.

Hmumoftw0 · 05/10/2021 07:26

Defo only the 31st!!

ForeverSinging · 05/10/2021 07:42

No, you only go trick or treating on actual Halloween.

Rockbird · 05/10/2021 08:04

Hallowe'en or nothing. People won't be expecting you on the 30th.

Last year I laid out a table with sweets on at the front of the house. No rummaging required and children still got their swag. Will probably do the same this year.

Knitwit101 · 05/10/2021 08:17

In the town I grew up in Halloween was always the last Friday in October. No idea how that tradition got started but it's way more sensible than Halloween on a Wednesday or a Sunday!

But now we live elsewhere we'll be following the crowds and holding Halloween on Sunday 31st.
