Help me unlock this box?

I've got a little locked deposit box that I've lost the key for. It was a gift when I was a student, with much needed cash in it! Nearly 2 decades later (how?!) I'm doing a clear out, found it in my desk drawer, but no key to be seen. Can't hear any cash in it but I can see paper through the slot. I'm just curious about what student me kept in there!

How do I get in? It's a cheapo lock for sure but I've never picked a lock! Do they sell replacement keys? eg I have two different lockable units from IKEA that both work on the same key! Not very secure! I can't see a brand, annoyingly.

Bolt cutters or a hammer. Maybe a local independent Locksmith?

Force it if it's a cheapo.

I have one of these at work, a paper clip has been known to do the trick.

Come back OP. I need to know what was in it???? Don't leave me hanging!

Bontanics · 06/10/2021 19:56

Sledgehammer sounds like fun

Sorry only just got around to trying the paper clip. Just half unrolled it, jiggled it about and it opened. Can't believe how quickly! Kind of a pointless lock.

Inside... Rizlas, phone numbers, websites, a terrible poem I wrote about splitting up with my long term boyfriend and an equally terrible poem a very illicit fwb at the time wrote about me. I'd forgotten about both poems. I now feel like a visitor from the future, zooming back to tell 20 something me that she's not going to make it as a poet!
