Waiting for 11plus results

Anyone else waiting anxiously for the results, I'm in the Trafford area.

Yes. It’s an awful wait! When are yours due?

keepsgettingworse · 05/10/2021 11:07

Aww bless you. I remember this feeling.

Last year my daughter took hers, 18 years before my son took his, both got into grammars, so best of luck for a good result.

Our 11+ results aren't due out until next week here. We have 11+ as default and only have grammars and secondaries (no comps), so our area is a bit different.

I hope you hear some good news soon.

DialsMavis · 05/10/2021 11:09

Yes we are waiting too (Dorset), letters sent Friday 15th. I have no idea how DD will do

We are waiting too..we should find out next week!

DS is doing ok, last week he mentioned how he kept thinking about it, but thankfully he's ok now. We've been to open evening for another school too, so he knows whatever happens we have other choices.

Fingers crossed 🤞

DialsMavis · 05/10/2021 11:30

We havent actually seen the grammar school yet! The open day is the day results are posted out, which is a shame but not anyones fault.

We have been to see other local schools and are bigging them up to DD.

LittleMissGlum · 05/10/2021 11:54

@DialsMavis we haven't had a chance to see the grammar school as such either (just what we saw for the 11+ examination).

We've done the same, but thankfully DS really likes the other school too, so I'm happy as he won't be disappointed (hopefully).

Best of luck to all 😊

DialsMavis · 05/10/2021 12:34

Best of luck to everyone Smile

MrsLifeisnotabowlofcherries4 · 05/10/2021 12:51

Yes fingers crossed for everyone 🤞

Letters I think are sent out on the 15th so not long now.

Its actually my Granddaughter who has taken the exam, I feel more anxious now than I ever did for my own children can't remember it being such an issue with me then. Both my children passed but I think it might have been easier then and not so much competition for Grammar school places and my son has tried so hard to help his daughter that I will be upset for him as well if she doesn't pass.

Yes the test was on 27th and we're on tenterhooks - although I'm not massively optimistic that he'll pass given the time pressure.

DialsMavis · 12/10/2021 12:59

We have just been told the grammar school open day is cancelled. If my daughter finds out on Saturday that she hasn't passed I will be glad she didnt get to visit, but if she has it will mean she will have to decide which school to put as her first choice without seeing one of them. Is anyone else in similar position?

LittleMissGlum · 12/10/2021 13:42

@DialsMavis yes! We've just received the letter today, DS has achieved the required score, but he hasn't actually seen the school. So at the moment he really likes the alternative, and now knows someone from a sports club applying there too.

It's difficult as now it's time to make that choice. Going to have to think long and hard.

Best of luck to everyone else waiting, finally our wait is over (and goodness did it feel like a long wait 😂)

Junglemum4281 · 12/10/2021 16:00

@DialsMavis Yes, we’re similar. Two schools to choose from, but we haven’t been able to see either. It’s a really difficult choice! That’s all assuming she passes. 11 days to go….

DialsMavis · 12/10/2021 18:00

Oh sorry to hear others are in the same boat.... Well done to DS @LittleMissGlum. You must be really proud.
Good luck whatever he/you decide.
What is the pass mark in your area this year?

@Junglemum4281, its tricky isnt it? We have seen our local school which DD quite likes (DH and I less keen, but not told DD) & we have seen another school that on paper we should not like, but all 3 of us do, but I dont think we will make it in on distance for that one. Good luck to you, we will be put out of our misery regarding pass or fail this weekend.

Junglemum4281 · 13/10/2021 20:50

Thank you @DialsMavis. Fingers crossed for you too! We’ve got our local school open evening tomorrow. DD is determined she won’t go there but I’m hoping she’ll change her mind once she sees it… just in case.

LittleMissGlum · 15/10/2021 15:28

Thank you @DialsMavis
The final decision is that he won't be going to the grammar. A lot of family are flabbergasted by this, understandably, but DS is very happy with his choice. The chosen school has shining ofsted so I'm happy with that.

Good luck to everyone else waiting

DialsMavis · 15/10/2021 17:41

@LittleMissGlum he sounds like he knows which school is best for him. I know some some children who passed previously and decided the school was not the best fit for them & are very happy at their chosen school.

@Junglemum4281 Did your DD warm to the other option?

Junglemum4281 · 15/10/2021 20:36

@DialsMavis Yes, she loved it! She still prefers to go to grammar school if she passes but she will be happy with the other option now. Such a relief.
How are you feeling about results tomorrow? Good luck!

DialsMavis · 16/10/2021 15:07

She passed, with what I think is a good margin to be offered a place, so we are all happy but she is sad for friends that just missed out. All of us who tutored (for year 5, 1 hour per week) passed with good marks. Which makes me feel v guilty and also v thankful that we were in a position to be able to. The tutored ones did also do lots of practice in their own time though so it wasn't all down to us being able to offer DD this.
