No M&S party food?! What’s happening?

Went to put in an order for M&S kids’ party sandwiches and other things. But they’re not doing them anymore! Or any party food, except Christmas food, delivering in December.

What’s going on?! Is this a shortages thing? Or is it a Covid thing (they’re assuming no one is gathering)?

Am I going to have to make all the sandwiches and other snacks myself?! Ahh!

I tried to order a joint of meat to collect in store earlier this year for DP’s birthday (done it before no problem) the website wouldn’t allow it, had to order through Ocado to be home delivered. I ordered it through somewhere else. I think they’ll only allow cakes to be ordered for collection.

DrunkenKoala · 03/10/2021 22:10

Sainsbury’s Food to Order do sandwiches and platters

DGFB · 03/10/2021 22:11

I think all their party food is now via Ocado? They have an M&S entertaining section

gogohm · 03/10/2021 22:11

Waitrose and Sainsbury's have entertaining menus

Neveranynamesleft · 03/10/2021 22:13
Hmm
Evergibbon · 03/10/2021 22:17

Yes I was right disappointed with this. You have to order via ocado and no sandwiches!!! Rubbish... I went to Morrisons

Partypooper00 · 03/10/2021 22:22

So disappointing as the M&S kids’ ones are very child-friendly and the Sainsbury’s ones are quite grown up flavours. I checked Ocado too, no sandwiches!

But good tip on Morrison’s. Will look right now! Will also check Waitrose!

If you are in a big city, Pret also do party platters

Nanananani · 03/10/2021 22:23

All through Ocado which is shit if you’re in Scotland as there’s no service. No party food in Christmas options either

NamechangeApril21 · 03/10/2021 22:53

I found this out for my DDs birthday a few weeks ago too! You can order a much more limited range through Ocado, but I'm in NI and we don't have Ocado. Raging.

Xyzzzzz · 03/10/2021 22:55

I second Morrisons. They do a decent selection

RobinPenguins · 03/10/2021 22:57

Yep, discovered this when it was DH’s birthday. And virtually all the Waitrose party food to order was out of stock. Making that sodding buffet myself instead took me ages!

raingoawaytoday · 03/10/2021 23:39

The puzzle sandwiches were great, I had to make my own instead

StateOfTheUterus · 04/10/2021 00:00

I know!!! I love the M&S jigsaw shape sandwiches for kids. So annoying.

StaplesCorner · 04/10/2021 00:02

We definitely are all going to hell in an empty handbasket.

Gothichouse40 · 04/10/2021 00:15

Iceland used to do party food, but don't know if it would suit kiddies.

AdaColeman · 04/10/2021 00:43

Costco do sandwich party platters, order on line and collect from the store.

Derbee · 04/10/2021 01:01

Costco or Subway would be my recommendation

Rockbird · 04/10/2021 01:16

They also don't do their plain wedding cakes anymore. They were fab as a base for birthday cakes etc but they've just stopped. So disappointed about that.

Pinetreesfall · 04/10/2021 01:18

Yup just found the same thing! Morrison's ones seem to be ok though - had them before as quicker lead time.
Waitrose too - most party food things out of stock but we are in the wild south west!

BarbaraofSeville · 04/10/2021 06:46

Second the Morrisons recommendation. They do a kids selection, plain ham, cheese and possibly jam, are made fresh in store rather than a factory and are much cheaper than Waitrose or M&S.

SunShinesBrightly · 04/10/2021 06:55

They made a deal with Ocado for all their food on-line and all the amazing entertaining food disappeared. No more big portions & party food.
You can still buy birthday cakes to collect from store though.

escapeyou · 04/10/2021 06:58

Yes, I’m very disappointed they don’t do food to order now and that you need to use Ocado. We don’t have Ocado here sadly.

It’s the puzzle sandwiches I’m sad about! Sad
