Ds is 12 and desperate to watch a horror
He's pretty well rounded and not too sensitive

When I was 9 my father was renting me nightmare on elm street from the video shop 😱

I don't want to go that far but what could we watch together?

What about the old goosebumps films? They're on Netflix. They're pretty old and probably quite cheesy but might be a nice gentle introduction

I'm not a fan of horrors and my DS is very soft. But last year when he was 10 Halloween with Micheal Myers was on and we ended up just watching a little bit of it and then all of it as he knew about him and actually its not that bad. Its more just a bit jumpy.

I was thinking Halloween too, but not sure about the slasher element

I should have said Stranger Things Boxset. Showing my age there Grin

We watched the lost boys too

We love Monster House. Jaws is a 12, so is Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children.

Christine.

This details the age rating -

Ah I was going to suggest The Lost Boys! I think anything 80s works, generally too cheesy to be scary. Maybe Poltergeist or Monster Squad? Also Arachnophobia or any type of ‘creature feature’ - a bit scary but not in the way haunting/demon/possession movies are.

I would say beware of age ratings - The Ring is rated only pg-13 because it doesn’t have that much gore/adult content, but it’s scary in a deeply psychological way.

Valhalla17 · 03/10/2021 11:11

Yes the Lost Boys! My 10yr old watched that last Halloween, we skipped the sex scene (which was brief) but he really enjoyed it and it's one of my all time faves!

What about A Quiet Place or The Sixth Sense...
