Coffee for beginners!

I've never drank coffee, maybe tasted it once - not a fan!

I'd really love to find one I like!

I'm thinking maybe a REALLY milky latte? Any suggestions?

Start with a mocha hot chocolate type drink

CreepingDeath · 02/10/2021 13:00

I love coffee, but don't force yourself to like it if you don't. Maybe just find a tea you like instead.

And yes to a milky latté with a flavoured syrup to wean yourself onto it.

I don't like coffee but it helps me wake up a bit lol. I have it literally half a cup coffee half a cup milk + 2 sweeteners lolll or if I'm feeling flashy actual sugar.

My dietician (I have medical probs) is actually supportive of this as I don't drink milk or eat cereal so she says that it's great for getting calcium as I have so much milk. We just don't discuss the sweeteners or sugar. Grin

I didn’t like it till I got espresso pods for dhs tassimo and topped up with milk.

Try a coffee at an independent coffee shop. Costa et al all use very hot water and robusta beans 🤮 and the result is not great.

Proper coffee isn’t scalding hot and you can taste lots of different flavours in it.

Try a mocha which is basically a hot chocolate with a shot of coffee in it. Or specify a half shot in a latte and build up from there

I was the same and I really like it now! I started with a milky iced coffee with some sort of syrup in (caramel is my favourite), or a coffee based frappe, or even the ready made cold Starbucks coffees you can get in the fridge section of corner shops/supermarkets.
Then moved on to stronger coffee eventually after I got a taste for it!

Thanks for all the tips pp, I've just had a mocha and loved it!

Caffe Nero do an Amaretto syrup which is lovely. Their coffee's quite strong so ask for just one shot of espreßon in a medium.

urbanbuddha · 18/10/2021 09:55

espresso

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 18/10/2021 10:59

McDonald's iced caramel frappe?

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 18/10/2021 11:02

If you want an instant, I like the red Kenco. It's quite mellow and good for coffee wusses like me.

Why would you want to try to train yourself to like a drink you dislike? Coffee is in no way compulsory…
