Creating a new BT email

Didn’t know where this belonged, so it’s here.
From the thread about changing your name when getting married, I thought about having an email in my maiden name - which everyone knows how to spell and doesn’t get mispronounced.
So I went onto BT and it seems that my email address was ‘gifted’ from my DH as his name is on the account/bill.
So firstly, do I have to ask him to make one for me as I can’t see how I do it myself.
And secondly, does this mean he can log into my email account somehow ? I’ve now changed my password.

No, he won't be able to access your email account if he doesn't know the password.

What about getting a Gmail account that is totally private to you, and doesn't bind you to staying with bt as your Internet provider?

It will take mere minutes to set up.

He might have known it up until I changed it today.
