am I now friends with them, can they see my full profile and can I delete the messenger chat for me and does it also delete for the other person ?

nothing weird, just sold something via FB and we had a messenger chat about the item and pick up , didn't get a good vibe.

It doesn't automatically add them to your friends list, just their messages will now go straight to your inbox as opposed to message request folder.

If you delete the message I don't think it deletes it their end, but I'm not 100% on that.

If you're getting bad vibes I'd block them on Facebook and messenger, they can't see you then or find you on Facebook.

Mariell · 01/10/2021 12:21

You are not automatically friends with them, you have to accept an actual friend request foe that.

You can delete or block them but the messages will still be visible at their end.

Bontanics · 01/10/2021 12:41

If they have already read/seen the message and you then select delete. It doesn't delete it their end as the message.

Thanks, I gave my address, ugh !

But they can't see my FB page?

@artquejtion

Thanks, I gave my address, ugh !

But they can't see my FB page?

Which is why I was hoping if I deleted my conversation, it would delete on theirs too.

This really annoys me about selling stuff on fb and using messenger - I wish you could remove them as a contact but the only way to do it is find their profile and block them.

JelliedHeels · 01/10/2021 15:41

If you block them they won't see the message any longer, I don't think.

artquejtion · 01/10/2021 15:54

Ok thank you, I will block and hope for the best.

You can unsend messages on messenger, which deletes them at both ends. You have to do it individually for each message but it makes messages you don't want hanging around go poof from your mailbox and theirs. Still available to law enforcement if they need to recover them, so not advisable for criminal activity, just before anyone gets any ideas. Hold your finger down on the message in question then select unsend.

JustLyra · 01/10/2021 23:24

If you understand the message it’ll delete it.

Blocking them won’t delete old messages, just prevent them sending you any new ones

artquejtion · 01/10/2021 23:42

it didn't give me the option to unsend it, when I tried the suggestion above.

You can't unsend from desktop, only in the app from your phone, in case that's the issue.

Kindertonguehappierlife · 02/10/2021 18:52

I’m fairly sure that you can only unsend if it’s not already been opened

In that case there’s nothing you can do
