Level of vacancies?

I keep seeing people talking about job wanted posters in any hospitality business they visit. I am in a town in the East Midlands and have seen a total of one poster in a window advertising for a chef. There will I am sure be some somewhere, but places don't seem to be crying out for staff. The care agencies are struggling, especially for overnight shifts if the adverts are a sign of where the vacancies are. But hospitality, no.
So just wondering what it is like where you live? We have a high rate of unemployment as well. I am wondering if it is largely wealthy places with a low level of unemployment who are struggling for hospitality staff?

I'm in London and every cafe/bar/pub where I live (west London) and where I work (central London) is advertising for staff.

We have a high level of unemployment here, a high % of Eastern European residents and workers too.

And we have hospitality jobs going in 2 of the 3 larger bar/cafes in our small market town - and a lot more across the board. Repeat adverts are common. Wages aren't NMW, nobody here offers that any more (that was the same pre-Brxit and Covid).

So I am living in a town where the stereotypes hold true:

  • Eastern European residents abound and are in a wide rage of jobs, from horticultural to manufacturing to the Post Office and Library
  • Local firms are offering a wide range of local jobs - hospitality, manual handling to machine operations and on into management - and just can't fill posts
  • Lots of people posting looking for work "that isn't some shit job". Some of the facebook debates are pure satire, until you realise the posters are being serious!

It's miserable everywhere it seems, even if the details are different from place to place.

I can’t drive for more than five minutes in any direction without encountering job vacancies. Pubs, cafes and restaurants, local farm, Mercedes garage, supermarkets, farm shop.
