Second child, so we already have all the basic 12-24 month toys like shape sorters, stackers, first puzzles, play kitchen and Duplo.
What else would you recommend for a first birthday present?

We wrapped up some of older child's gifts and gave them to second child. Otherwise it seems unfair as second child has twice as many toys as first child did. Plus it saved me a lot of money and space.

If you want to buy new stuff:
Outdoor things like a swing or ride on? Those cosy coupe cars are very popular.

Baby walker
Baby doll and pushchair

It sort of depends what stage your 1 year old is at, some have been walking for 2 months already whereas others aren't even crawling so would need different toys.

Thanks. Sadly we're in a flat with no garden so can't do outside stuff. You're right about the ages and stages thing. My LO is on the cusp of taking first independent steps where as my elder daughter didn't walk til she was 20 months so we've already got a lot of the things like the Walker out and a lot of the toys she likes at the same age have been used for a while. But I'll have a raid in the storage cupboard and see how we can make do

Your older child could have fun making the box with disappearing scarves using brightly coloured lengths of old clothes or scarves for your one year old.

Both kids will have fun with the indoor tent
