Do you clean fly poo off your ceiling?

I'm forever cleaning fly shit off the ceiling in our new house. I'm not that house proud. I've never done it in any other houses, and we've lived in a few. It's really noticeable and gross.

Did I miss the memo, and everyone does this?

Or is my new house a gross fly poo palace?

Ohhh it's poo?! I didn't know this. I just sometimes think it's dead flies squashed on the ceiling.... what I think has caused death by squashing up on a ceiling I don't quite know.

But to answer your question, these type of things get cleaned as and when I notice they are there.

This is usually when I've spotted a cobweb that is ready to enter itself into 'Halloween decoration of the year' and at that point I go 'bloody hell', get the hoover out and jab it at the ceiling.

It's not something I've ever cleaned up or even noticed. Are you sure that's what it is? Not mould or damp or something?

Flamingoose · 30/09/2021 07:03

Nope, it's definitely fly shit.

Tiny little brown dots. On the light fittings too. Gross.

I don't get it on my ceilings, but I do on the windows, and yes, I clean my windows.

I’ve always thought that the little brown/red dots are spider poo? That’s what my Nanna always told me anyway!

But yes, we used to get lots of it in our old house, but our new build house doesn’t yet.

Yes,I get this on my walls and ceiling.
Sometimes a wipe removes it but other times they are very stubborn and leave a stain. There's always some on the door frames.
I'm a cleaner and all my clients have fly poo!

I hate it

It'll be worse in a few weeks when the ladybirds arrive and poo everywhere they land.

No tips I just scrub with a damp cloth

I clean it too OP it's disgusting! Filthy little middens they are Angry

MaisyMary77 · 30/09/2021 13:43

I get it all over my conservatory ceiling and light shades. I go round with a mop and very hot, soapy water and wash it off. Just make sure the mop is totally squeezed out-I also wear protective goggles!

Bimblybomeyelash · 30/09/2021 13:44

I also believed that it was spider poo.
