Any doctors around please? Am worrying bad

Hi all

Ds 11 has been in hospital, discharged today, following osteomyelitis (had covid on top of this also).

Doctors seem happy with obs, sent home to continue to isolate abs due back in week for blood tests as (and this is what I having been googling and getting worried about) the report says neutrophils present at 0.6.

Is this a usual level, especially following what he has been through? I see the words leukaemia jump off my screen. Is that what they are checking for? Would this have been present in other bloods? None of this mentioned so I didn’t ask, only when I’ve read finer details on discharge letter this evening did I know this.

Please don't worry. If they thought he had leukaemia they would not have let him go home and told him to come back a week later.

Not a doctor OP, but I think a low white cell count can follow on from a course of antibiotics? What a horrible time of night to be worrying about this. I’m sure this would have been discussed with you if it was a possibility.

I would absolutely expect her neutrophils to be a little low following on from a bone infection. They have been used up fighting the bacteria and covid. They will be having her back to check that her levels are coming back up again as they get replaced in the normal cycle of blood cell production. The bst thing you can do is feed her well, lots of vit D and let her recover from a nasty set of illnesses
