Last night I told dh that I would have recommended the film he had watched to a mutual friend, but I didn't think the friend would watch a Russian film subtitled into English.

Dh: It wasn't in Russian.
Me: it was.
Dh: it wasn't.
Me: All the writing came up in cyrillic on screen.
Dh: It was English.
Me: (stunned silence).

He found the film again and restarted it and everyone was indeed speaking Russian.

Possibly not what you meant, but I had a conversation with my son's school where they insisted he needs to attend even if he is throwing up every half hour, and had I tried Calpol to help him?
Son has MS Hmm

Discussing with DP about the clocks going back and whether it would be darker earlier or later at night. It was completely frustrating but him eventually admitting I was right and he was wrong was worth it.

Me (in the midst of cooking, just taken the marscapone out of the fridge and now adding it to the sauce): wow, the fridge is cold, the marscapone is half frozen!

DH (on the other side of the kitchen, nowhere near the marscapone): no it's not.

Me: 🤨

@Pikamoo sounds like my DD, she will argue it's night when it's actually day if you let her. You could be talking about an object In a completely different room and she will still say 'no it's not' without knowing what it is, its really frustrating!

Speaking of my DD, I asked if she had any 'pudding' at her nanas yesterday and she said that she had Ghetto.

"Ghetto?"

"Yeah, you know, that Ghetto thing..."

Took me a while to figure she probably meant Gateau

I had a very surreal argument with dp about how big a portion of crumble to cut.

Me: how much would you like?
Dp: a portion
Me: can you show me how much you mean when you say a portion?
Dp demonstrates 1/4 of the crumble
I cut 1/4
Dp:I want the same as everyone else
I make a maths-face as I try and work out how to cut the rest of the crumble so I can make up the difference between 1/4 and 1/3

Dp tries to mash her 1/4 back into the crumble and I make an aesthetic-sensibility-in-distress face.

Dp: I said I want a portion

This still baffles me after a week.

I'm having an office built in the garden, mentioned to my dad that I'd be moving one of the tables that's currently in the house out to it.
Dad - You can't assume it will fit.
Me - I've measured it, so pretty certain it'll be fine. It's 5ft at its longest edge and the office is 8x10ft.
Dad - But that's the external dimensions of the building, you need to take the wall depth into account.
Me - The walls would need to be at least 1.5ft deep to stop me fitting the table in?!
Dad - I'm just saying...

Trying to explain to ds why he should not have put Pavlova in the microwave when he said he needed to as it was cold...

For context, DDs both tested positive for CV at weekend.. DD2 had a headache, DD1 completely asymptomatic. Singke adult household currently.

Friend: You need to get a test in case you go out and pass it on. Pointed out im not going out because I'm looking after the children... took a while to understand that I can't go anywhere, and am completely fine... (if anything would make sense to get a test towards the end of their isolation period. Plus I'm vaccinated...)

My mother on the otherhand seems to think I'm going to keel over at any moment, despite reassurances that we are all fine. But on the other hand, thinks I should take them to the woods for exercise...
