Opinion on outfit options please!

I’ve got a night out at the weekend, first proper night out in a very long time! I don’t really have anything to wear and the dress I had ordered and really liked has been cancelled/refunded due to lack of stock Sad.

I quite like the attached outfits but I’m not 100% sure on them, I’m really struggling to find something. I’m tall/slim/no boobs and my legs and stomach/waist are probably my best features. Any opinions or other options welcome! Photos attached and links below. If I can’t find anything online I’ll need to brave the shops on my day off 😢.

They both come in black and white, not sure on colour for either!

I don't like them and think they look like half an interview outfit. However I'm over 40, own 2 old dresses and currently wearing slobby stuff so you might not want my opinion!

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 28/09/2021 17:55

You certainly have the shape for them, from your description. Go for it. I think white is fresher, but at the same time cheap white synthetic fabric often looks like shit, so black might be the safer choice.

TolkiensFallow · 28/09/2021 17:56

I probably prefer the black but they’re both very bold …. I wear jeans all the time though so you might be a bit more glamourous

The black looks more out out and you'll probably get more wear out of it.

Crinkle77 · 28/09/2021 18:10

Might be ok for Summer but not Autumn. I'd be thinking about how cold I'd be. But as @MyMushroomsInATimeSlip said I'm over 40 so I'm all for practicality these days.

ElleStartingOver · 28/09/2021 18:16

The black one!

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/09/2021 18:16

They’re both ace if you have the legs for them. At this time of year I would more likely go with the black than the white, and wear it with high heeled boots

Bobsyer · 28/09/2021 18:35

I like the black one. I love white, but I don’t especially like that jacket style if dress and I know going out out it’s unlikely I wouldn’t spill on myself Grin

@Wolfie11 have you bought from there before? I saw something l liked but am dithering on it. What’s the quality like?

MyMushroomsInATimeSlip · 28/09/2021 18:39

@Crinkle77 gosh yes. It is getting a bit nippy out Grin

Mantlemoose · 28/09/2021 18:42

I like the black one but with woolly tights and a vest. Sorry nearly 50 and now dress for the weather. I don't like white as it marks too easy

Antinerak · 28/09/2021 19:25

You might be better off getting a classic little black dress and a blazer like the black one to go over it. You can wear both items again and with other things. Boohoo have some nice plain black dresses at the moment. A slip dress might suit your figure and would look nice with the blazer either buttoned or not

Miseryl · 28/09/2021 20:00

If you are tall and slim you could pull off much nicer outfits than those. They aren't bad, they are just a bit drab for someone who sounds like would look stunning in something more dressy.

Thanks for the replies! I’m slightly reconsidering having my legs out after walking the dog in the cold tonight 🥶! I’m sure the alcohol will keep me warm though.

Looks like the black is the “winner”. Still not 100% sure how I feel about either of them but I’ve spent hours trawling websites online and not really found much. There’s a lot of dresses out just now that you need a good cleavage for and that’s my least favourite body part so I usually have it covered up. I’ve not ordered from either of those sites before so no idea what the quality will be like. They both do next day delivery so I might have a look around the shops before I order to see if anything else catches my eye! I’m not particularly glam on a day to day basis, I live in jeans and dog walking clothes! I do like getting dressed up for a night out but they are few and far between these days.

White is more striking.
You want to have great legs.
