Where would you go with two little children for a uk break in November?

We were supposed to be on holiday last week but had to cancel it because my 1yo caught covid. She's fine, but isolating at home wasn't quite the same as our long awaited first holiday in 2 years 😭 We're going to try again in November but I'm not sure what to do.

We were meant to go to a cottage in Lyme Regis with grandparents and BIL family. Fun in September when it's not too cold, but maybe less so in November and with no grandparents or cousins to play with.. I think we need somewhere with indoor activities but centre parks look to be all booked up, and I'm not sure if caravan type holiday parks are open in the bleak midwinter!

So, where would you go with a 1yo and a 3 yo in November?

I might try Butlin’s to be honest- might not be your thing but would have things to do even in bad weather. We are going in Feb and dd is much older…

Butlins.
My kids have been everywhere and still talk rave about Butlins. Get a hotel room and restaurant meal plan. Stuff for them to do in crap cold weather.

There's a hotel group in Torquay (Derwent, Victoria and Tourak) that share a really nice indoor swimming pool. I haven't been there for a few years, may have changed since then. Have a look.

DeborahAnnabel · 28/09/2021 15:09

There’s more than one centerparcs. There’s no way it’ll be booked up in Nov.

erictries · 28/09/2021 16:00

Crieff hydro in Scotland is amazing. Loads of offers in November as outwith school holidays. Fab pool, 2 free hours of childcare per day ( so adults can golf or use spa etc of you so wish). Evening activities, choice of restaurants, adventure play parks and soft play

Thank you all for your replies. Off to do some more research.

Another vote for Crieff. Gorgeous countryside, good play areas and yes definitely book direct for the free childcare! We’re just back from our second stay in two years, my kids adore it. Lots to do for all ages.

Parkdean is open until end of November I know because I own a static at one. Reasonable and plenty of activities for weenies

orangejuicer · 28/09/2021 19:15

Bluestone is meant to be great. Lots of positive reviews from friends.

traumatisednoodle · 28/09/2021 19:20

We went to centre parcs at that time of year, brilliant. SANDs resort in Cornwall is good too (not cheap)

Mrsfenchurch · 28/09/2021 19:25

Depends on your budget but lots of options in Cornwall. And won’t be crazy busy. High end I’d recommend Watergate bay hotel or Bedruthan Hotel - both have beautiful spa facilities and great kids zone / clubs / soft play etc. But £££. Cheaper would be somewhere like The Park in Mawgan Porth - with all of the above but less ultimate luxury in chalets or holiday houses. Or somewhere like Atlantic Reach which has great pool, soft play etc again in permanent house/chalet accommodation but more budget again. Then there are sites like Hendra Holiday Park, Piran Meadows etc too. All of those are within 0 and 7 miles from gorgeous beaches, lots of good pubs, and places like Eden project & Heligan gardens within 25 mins. Can’t guarantee the weather though!

Mrsfenchurch · 28/09/2021 19:27

Sands in Porth is a good recommendation above too… kinda sits below my first two recommendations in list of luxury down!

ANameChangeAgain · 28/09/2021 19:37

What about something Christmas themed, a break where you could see the Christmas lights and an early Pantomime? Or you could stay in the West Midlands and take them to the Snowdome Winter Wonderland one day and Drayton Manor Thomas Land the next?

HollowTalk · 28/09/2021 19:48

I'm not sure I would go anywhere at that time of year! Holidays or not always holidays with little ones. They won't have the toys or their friends or familiar places. Self catering would be a nightmare.

careerchangeperhaps · 28/09/2021 20:07

Prior to my DC starting school, we always holidayed in mid-November (nice and cheap!). We have done:

Bluestone (Pembrokeshire, Wales). Lots to do on site, a bit like Center Parcs

Sandy Balls (New Forest). Has a pool, soft play and some activities on site. Nearby days out include Moors Valley Country Park (fabulous play area, feed the ducks, little train etc), Marwell Zoo (wonderful), day trip to Bournemouth (nice park and beach).

Whitemead (Forest of Dean). Swimming pool and small soft play on site. Lots of outdoorsy things nearby (Foresty Commission sites, lovely ponds etc).

Weather was always kind. Cool but dry and so lovely to have a week in the forest.

Autumngoldleaf · 28/09/2021 20:21

Tough once op... What about the center parks near longleat?

Ukholidaysaregreat · 28/09/2021 20:24

Butlins! Butlins! Butlins! It's bloody brilliant for little ones! Loads of shows. Mini fair ground rides. Great pool. They would love it!

Ewanismydreamsheep · 28/09/2021 20:41

We’ve just booked haven for the second week of November. A few sites had availability for heated caravans at a good price Monday-Friday.
My little boy will have just turned 3 and there’s a couple of activities he can do and the pool.
Bluestone and butlins were fully booked when I checked.

GlmPmum · 28/09/2021 20:42

Parkdean are doing Tots Week around that time, have a look x

groundhogyear · 28/09/2021 20:53

Another one for bluestone here
