Have your dc read Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy?

Did they enjoy it?
It’s one of my favourite books and I loved it when I read it. I keep trying to get dc to read as there are still lots of cultural references to it all over the place.
I’m just thinking if they’ll enjoy it or if it’s aged badly?

DS2 reads exactly what he wants, so no chance. He's aware of 6×9=42, but that's it.

We are listening to it as a family on audible. Dc are 7 and 11. They love it. Massively over the 7yo 's head but hey.

I've tried to get my 12 yo to read some of my favourite books from my childhood before with no joy, so offered him HGTTG with no expectations. To my surprise he absolutely loved it and went on to read all 5 books in the trilogy, I was over the moon.

I've read it to my 10yo this year and he loved it and "got" much of it. A couple of lines were omitted. We ran out of steam on the 4th book, but he loved the first three.

Oh no. Not again.

Yes, that is, the radio version.

TomPinch · 28/09/2021 02:39

We have the original radio series. Kids 11 and 13 - both loved it.

DH is reading it to our 7yo at the moment. He’s enjoying it.
