I like people. I like to talk. I talk to strangers when I am out and about.

I have no problem being sociable at all. I get on with everyone. I am fascinated by what you have to say and enjoy your 'take' on a subject which makes me look at things in a different way.
However..........

I do have a slight problem with my short term memory and If I am having a conversation with friends and family and they say something which triggers a thought - I am listening to them - but have a tendency to forget what I was going to say so I interrupt before I forget what it is I was going to say, and I know it is annoying, but if I did not interrupt I would forget.

I hope that made sense !

I know I am like this ! I wish I could adopt a strategy to combat the forgetfulness because I would be able to listen more carefully.

I do not have dementia. I wonder if anyone else is like this. I am a bit older and don't remember being like this when I was younger

I'm exactly like this, drives me mad, I'm 26 and have always had terrible memory, I previously used a memory training app that claims to improve memory and focus, ironically I've forgotten the name of it but there's plenty of different ones available and it did help, I need to start using it again.

No real advice, but its good you recognise that you do it. My DP does this. ALL the time. But he doesn't realise he's doing it. His explanation is that he's just overly excited about the subject. In the nicest possible way, its really annoying.
Following in the hope that somebody comes along with an answer.

I'm exactly like this lately. I'm 50 and blaming the menopause!

This is me. I'm surprised I have any friends left because I interupt all the time. However I know other people that are the same.
So you aren't on your own.

I do this and I have lately been diagnosed with ADHD.

My mum does it, she always has though so I’m used to it 😑
It can be annoying though 😬

TheVolturi · 27/09/2021 21:56

Oh dear, I think I do this!
