I am thinking about retraining and this career interests me. I expect it to be very difficult and long hours, but what is the reality? Can any social workers enlighten me?

Under funded

Over worked

No societal sympathy (unlike nurses)

Hugely rewarding Wink

There is an AMA I believe.

There are several AMAs...it's a great job if you're cut out for it. Hard work, lots of report writing, organisational skills must be top notch, critical analysis and reflective skills excellent, empathy a must but also capacity to emotionally detach and not get sucked in to peoples narratives.
