Has anyone had fibrocystic breast symptoms after Mirena coil?

I used to get painful lumpy breasts, diagnosed as Fibrocystic breast tissue. I came off the pill, had DC, no issues, Years later I’ve recently had the Mirena coil inserted and I’ve got sore breasts and at least one lump.

Could it be the hormones in coil? Or do I need to worry? I’m 47

Hi
I'm sorry no one has responded.

I can't speak for the Fybrocystic tissue part as I haven't had that or heard of it but I had a mirena coil put in while I wait for an ablation and I am getting choosing to get my ablation earlier by a local than wait on a general anaesthetic for a few reasons but mostly because of the very painful breast tissue I am experiencing on the coil.

Some days even my arm brushing against my breast is agony. And taking my bra off or turning over on bed is sore.

Are you going to keep on with it?

Sorry, that was a very long first sentence. Grin
Hope it made sense

I had one of the first Mirena coils - didn't experience any breast lumpiness but something went wrong with it as my oestrogen levels went sky high. Following a blood test I was contacted to ask how much HRT I was taking because the lab had never seen levels that high before.

I wasn't on any HRT at the time but had all the pregnancy symptoms and my breasts were really huge - so uncomfortable. They then thought I might have ovarian cancer which was also ruled out and as soon as the coil was removed everything went back to normal. I did have an early menopause not long after that and believe that was also connected to the Mirena.

Oh that's interesting IVbumble because my breasts are getting bigger, no doubt about it. I am bulging out the bra I normally fit in. I had a breast reduction many years ago and it's the last thing I want or need. I'm glad that getting the coil out helped. I did say the other night to dh it's like being pregnant again.

Thank you for replies. I’m not sure if I’m keeping the coil n. Go referral to breast clinic, I had copper coil for years and was fine. Still having periods. Will see what Breast clinic come up with, then get blood test done. Boobs painful still

I did but didn't link it to the Mirena but the timing matched.
