DD15 first boyfriend

DD15 has just told me her boy ‘friend’ is now her boyfriend.

She’s always been quite reserved and I honestly thought she’d be in college before any boy was on the scene but here we are.

What’s your best tips for not interfering too much but also guiding her and setting boundaries. We have a good relationship and she talks when she wants to. I also don’t want young love to derail her school goals either.

God I miss the toddler tantrums now when things were simpler . Hit me with any tips you have.

Talk to her about contraception and consent. Remind her of the legal age of consent. Talk to her about STDs . Remind her that she has Agency over her body and should not feel pushed to do ANYTHING she is not ready for. Keep a dialogue going.
Be nice and welcoming to her boyfriend.

Thanks I followed this advice this morning and it went well. Haven’t met him in boyfriend capacity yet (only brief meetings as part of friendship group so far) so will try not to narrow my eyes at him when I do

Don’t know, but I’m following because my just turned 16yo DS is in the same position… first official date outside friendship group is happening right now!
