Anyone eaten at the cafe on Brownsea Island? Is it any good? Not sure I can be bothered with taking sandwiches Blush

It’s just a standard NT cafe. Overpriced sandwiches, dry scones 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dinoroaraus · 25/09/2021 20:47

Yeah agree with PP. I'd take something
Way cheaper.

WimpoleHat · 25/09/2021 20:49

It’s like any other NT cafe. Perfectly nice, but a pain if there’s a huge queue!

Caramellatteplease · 25/09/2021 21:08

Oh! Are the national trust scones round here not gorgeous?!? Our local NTs are always a bit of a treat for cake and scones and the odd time I've got food it been good wholesome meals. I'm happy to take sandwiches, but less to carry is always appealing. Starting to sound like I should though...

small voice we really liked it when we ate there, was 4 years ago though but thought it was a good example of an NT cafe

It’s fine. But it’s right where you get off the ferry, whereas usually you get hungry by the time you’ve reached the other side of the island…

MrsWombat · 25/09/2021 21:43

They broke my heart as they had run out of scones on my last trip there. The one thing I had been looking forward to all week. Sad

That is a very good point 😖🤣😝

They'd run out of just about everything last time we went. Think we ended up with a sausage roll and an ice cream between us!

pinguwings · 26/09/2021 06:37

I would take something. Otherwise you will have to time lunch immediately as you land or depart. There are lots of really pretty spots for picnics.

liveforsummer · 26/09/2021 07:42

I'd take lunch and treat yourself to a scone at the end. As op have said it's not the handiest position for lunch.

ProfessorInkling · 26/09/2021 07:49

Take lunch. Cafe is not exciting.

gogohm · 26/09/2021 07:50

It's fine but expensive. I eat in nt places but my budget isn't tight.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/09/2021 08:03

I'm happy to pay cafe prices if the food is good, fresh and reasonably priced.

However, far too often it is either nasty mass catering factory food, poor quality or not very fresh. Plus expensive for what it is and you often have to queue for ages.

I've generally given up with most 'tourist trap' type places because I got fed up of waiting for ages to be served by disinterested, rude staff, paying a lot of money for horrors like squirty cream on stale scones, premade fridge temperature sandwiches and soft drinks with artificial sweeteners in. No thank you.

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 26/09/2021 08:11

Absolutely take a picnic, then eat it whenever you happen to be at lunchtime. You don’t want to be tied to the cafe.
