Just made redundant, go back to old job or wait for better opportunities?

I was just made redundant... The question is, do I just go back to my old job which I did enjoy but had a terrible pay or wait for the right opportunity (knowing that it might take some time). Given my work ethic I'm incapable of just taking my old job back for a few months just as a stopgap, if I go back, I'd commit to it for a couple of years.

Can you afford to wait? Will you definitely get your old job back?

I think I can afford to wait yes, how many months, I don't know. I don't I would be uncomfortable with more than three months. Obviously I don't have 100% certainty I can get my old job back, but it was created for me and I have a very specific skillset. My boss (who is CEO) always said that of I got bored of my new job, the door was always open. I think he'd at the very least take me back on an entry level position.

I've got in touch with one of those CV consultants, at least that should help me in getting my CV past the AI filtering
