Redundancy Rights

Posting here for traffic...

Does anybody know about termination/redundancy rights? I was made redundant after 5 months of employment, but I don't know if I have any rights. My guess is I have none... But I'm sure somebody knowledgeable might tell me :)

None until you've been employed for two years I'm afraid. Unless you have been made redundant due to a protected characteristic (eg pregnancy, disability) in which case you might have a case for unfair dismissal.

You'll get paid for your notice period if you don't need to work it, but that's about it.

I was made redundant after 9 months and it was crap.

No nothing... Basically he told me he couldn't afford me anymore (over email!)

What would happen if he re-advertises the role?

Nothing. You have no rights with less than two years service. Sorry.

OldTinHat · 25/09/2021 12:56

As others have said, you have to have two years continuous service. Bloody crap isn't it?

Terribleluck · 25/09/2021 12:59

It is indeed crap! Especially because I think they went that way rather than constructive dismissal.
