Train, bus or car? Lighthearted thread

Need to go to town for extended family birthday meal. (Using the app so not able to do the vote thing. If I can use the vote thing on the app please tell me how to for future reference).

Train

  • 20 min walk to station.
  • 3 min train journey
  • cheaper than the bus. Less than £5 return in total.
  • 2 min walk to restaurant from getting off train

Bus

  • 2 mins walk to bus stop
  • usually 45 min journey but will probably take longer due to traffic.
  • 2 min walk to restaurant from getting off bus

Car

  • dc with asd will prefer this as kicks off when we use train or bus as anxiety escalates.
-normally takes 20 mins to drive to parking but will be longer today as per reasons below.
  • 10 min walk to restaurant from parking
  • will use more fuel than normal due to traffic congestion caused by petrol queuing and road works on all major routes. (I am trying to eke out the petrol i have left. I have about £15-18 of fuel worth in monetary terms).

I have told the dc we need to use the train. As seems most sensible. The 20 min walk is causing them to kick off more than the thought of being on the train. 🙄

What would you do?

Train. Choo choo!

Train

Anyway you can break the walk down with a cafe/shop stop for a drink?

Or a magazine from the newsagents?

Bus!!! And sit upstairs.

WrongKindOfFace · 25/09/2021 11:23

Train. Depending on the age of the children you could do a scavenger/spotter hunt on the walk to keep them occupied? There are lots online you can print out.

Train. The walk will help you get a good appetite for the meal - food always tastes nicer if you've had a bit of exercise before.

Car to train station, then get train

Normally prefer train to bus.
But check the display before buying tickets as issues on the trains often take longer to resolve than traffic issues with buses.
