I have noticed a lot in news articles that people's wives/husbands, when they are married, are referred to as their 'partner' even though they are actually married and wonder why this is. Wokeness? PC? Of course, married women even when taking their husband's names often choose to be known as Ms rather than Mrs and I've seen this in articles too. Fair enough, that would be my preference too.
I also note that it mainly occurs in articles about heterosexual couples too. I've never seen two married women or married men referred to as partners. I find it odd, has anyone else noticed it or is it just me?
