Where was the premier inn?

I’d be thrilled!! I love a premier inn. We once went for a romantic city break and spent about £200 a night on the ‘best’ hotel in the city, the room was horrendous and I spent the whole first night awake wishing we’d saved our money and booked a premier inn.

More info needed.
Night before an early flight? Fine.
Remote location and only hotel around after a gig or wedding? Okay.
Destination for a romantic city break or night away? Incredibly disappointed.

Premier inn are great! Comfortable beds, usually cheap ( apart from the one at Covent Garden which is extra-ordinarily expensive!)

Nope wouldn’t be impressed. Nothin getting with a premier inn in the right context, a cheap bed for the nigh, say for example if you are going to a party, concert etc. So just somewhere to crash. It’s not romantic and not special. So if I was told I was being taken away I would expect a little more than a premier inn.

Did you have e a laugh ?

It depends on what else we were up to. If it was also dinner and theatre or something like that I'd be totally fine with it.

If it was just a night away, I'd expect a 5* boutique hotel with a spa and an amazing on site restaurant.

No. Breakfast buffet! Comfy beds! I love a Premier Inn.

Sorry everyone I fell asleep 🙈
The plan is to go to Newcastle next Saturday for the day /night.
It's the one on the quayside.
Going for food and cocktails around Newcastle.
He said he booked as it's in a good location.

Well, that's different. As a place to stay as a convenience, it's fine...as a romantic getaway, no.

My DH always used to do this kind of thing back in our early years! He was such a tight arse. Happy to report we've been married for 12 years now and he's significantly upped his game :-)

Sounds great then. It's about the location, not the room. And the room will be fine, just not a novelty destination.

I'd be happy with a Premier Inn. They're clean, the bed and pillows are really comfortable and they do a decent breakfast.
We've stayed at more expensive places and have rarely felt they're worth the money.

You would be very ungrateful and I'd hope he gets rid of you pronto.
Nothing worse than people slagging off gifts or surprises.
You sound horrible.

I only look at premier inns for nights away! Give my a Hypnos mattress and a night away from my noisy neighbours for £29 any night😂 In all seriousness though the way I look at it is this... you can't check in till 3 then you have to be out by 10/11 the next day, why spend a fortune? Plus premier inns are good!

Like others I really like Premier Inns, I would always choose one if going away .. in fact we have chosen one for a weekend in London next month.

I have been to quite a few supposedly 'upmarket' hotels which have been very disappointing and a lot more expensive that a PI. Your weekend in Newcastle sounds great.

(I would recommend Holiday Inn though - two separate double beds and only a little more expensive Grin). Depends what you are going for though ....

Honestly I don't see why you would want to pay more money for a hotel you will hardly be in. I'd always book a Premier Inn for a city break like that. It sounds great. Hope yous have a great time.

There's nothing wrong with his plan off booking premier inn. He's made a plan for the time you're there with food/drinks and it's somewhere close to where you'll be to go back to over taxis.

I think it sounds great.
There are some amazing places to eat in the Newcastle area!

Sounds great. It's perfect as a base for the weekend and more money to spend on cocktails!

It's 300 quid vs 50 quid for somewhere to sleep and shower.

Premier Inns are fine. They're usually clean, comfortable and modern.

Travelodge would be unacceptable ime.
