can anyone help reassure me? Weird ridge on nipple

I have health anxiety so I am going bananas over this.
I have got a Dr appointment but not for another week. I noticed recently that one of my nipples sticks out more than the other - this was the favoured side when breastfeeding last year (only did it for five months) so I thought that might be why. Then I noticed there's kind of a hard ridge directly under the nipple on my areola. Its probably a couple of mm wide and below that is a kind of curved line - not really an indentation. I do have a picture but felt weird about posting it online even though I'm anonymous (and I am NOT asking anyone else to post pictures of describe their nipples, I am not a troll) but was wondering if anyone could say yep I had similar and it wasn't anything terrifying or yep it turned out to be something. (Not ideal to ask strangers on the internet but it makes me feel weirdly more in control which helps calm my anxiety)

I have a 20 month old and I am really panicking thinking it's something terrible. Thank you in advance for any reassurance you can give, I am trying to stay calm and reminding myself the odds of it being something terrible are very small (I'm 38).

Over time, estrogen levels drop, which leads to a loss of gland tissue in the breast. Along with changes in skin elasticity, this may cause the breasts to appear smaller and lower down than before. The nipples may also change in appearance.

I've got a nipple ridge since breastfeeding and it's not gone away. I genuinely put it down to four years worth of latching on and it simply changing shape to suit that over time, and have paid it no more heed.

If you have health anxiety though I would suggest you chat with your GP as I don't think anything anyone here says will truly ease your mind.

Thank you for taking the time to reply
Thanks for the link I'll have a look

I think I was just thinking that I didn't breastfeed for very long and it was about 15 months ago sine I stopped so wasn't sure that could be the cause. Maybe it's been there a while and I didn't notice before

@charlotteflax hope you don't mind my asking, did your ridge appear on the 'favoured' side?

Yes it did! Well and truly moulded!

I just wanted to come back to resolve the thread thus far - I went inand had an examination and my doctor was very thorough and had no cause for concern. It seems to be due to breastfeeding but she has said any further change and I need to go straight back in and given me a good well described breakdown of what to look out for so I feel much better now. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reassure me.
