I Thought after all the hype I would check it out but it seems as above is it really easy to clean its not as smooth as I was expecting?

Do you mean a slightly textured/woodgrain finish? I should think if it was mirror smooth it would be slippery.

spongedog · 24/09/2021 17:44

I have had mine in our bathrooms for nearly 25 years. We dont have teeny holes. Is that part of the design? I hoover mine, or robo vac, then steam clean them. I have bought the proper cleaning stuff but to be honest have been too lazy for the last 5 years to even use it.

Yes it's a wood effect I only noticed the teeny holes because we got a sample.

I guess that is effect then and not usual antico?

BTW it's spacia wood effect I'm looking at

There shouldn’t be holes in it

Alwayswonderedwhy · 25/09/2021 16:43

I got some samples but they didn't have holes in. Sounds like there's something wrong with it.

Autumngoldleaf · 25/09/2021 16:58

Definitely, perhaps hole is too extreme.
If you shine it in the light you see very little wood grain effect dips..

Is it the texture of the flooring, like this? Dirt doesn't really stick in it.

Yes! If you zoom in you can see very very teeny grooves.

Suggest you do a cleaning test on your sample to be sure Grin

Okbutnotgreat · 26/09/2021 08:53

Surely that’s just the faux wood grain? We have karndean and it’s very similar but no problem keeping it clean. If you mean actual small round holes then your sample is faulty.

Autumngoldleaf · 26/09/2021 08:59

Yes it's faux wood grain but it's still a divot to catch dirt.

What do people clean it with? A steam cleaner??

I clean with a slightly damp mop. And I use the dressing once every 2-3 years.

Still looks good as new after 18 years.

Mamette · 26/09/2021 09:05

We have Amtico and it doesn’t catch dirt. It’s by far the easiest floor to clean out of any floors I’ve ever had. I use a spray mop.

Mosaic123 · 26/09/2021 09:07

I don't think you are meant to use steam cleaning with this type of stuck down floor as the heat would melt the glue

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 26/09/2021 09:47

Steam cleaners aren’t supposed to be used on Amtico.

PeppermintMocha · 26/09/2021 10:04

Amtico has at least two finishes - 'barn' and 'tick' were the ones that my wood effect Spacia came in (I don't think all choices come in both finishes but some of the most common wood ones do).

the 'barn' finish is slightly rougher, I think. If you have a sample, it should say on the back which one it is. Maybe try the other one and see if it's more to your liking?

I thought steam cleaning did something with the adhesive.

I haven't used the official cleaning stuff yet but I might get some; I was told baby wipes to get stains/adhesive off, and occasionally antibac floor wipes. I'm sure the same sort of cleaners with non-disposable mops will be fine too.

Autumngoldleaf · 26/09/2021 13:08

@PeppermintMocha

Thank you.

I had a look and it is tick so should be OK then.

I prefer the floor wipes so it's OK if steam isn't good.
