I think we must have had a different postman this morning

There are only 9 houses in the street. Numbers 2 to 10, so admittedly a bit confusing, plus instead of odd numbers on one side and evens on the other it starts at 2 nearest the main road and then numbers around a t-junction and ends up back at the main road with number 10. It seems to have completely confused the post person despite almost all of us having our house numbers on our gate posts. Grin I'm number 9, number 8 has just dropped my post off to me and I have just put number 10's through their door.

We are playing literal pass the parcel, no music though. Grin

Haha! We have a similar problem sometimes. We are number 2 but there is a 2b and 2c before us who just have a number 2 on their door or a house name and we have a private road to the side of us which also has a number 2. Anything can happen when there's a new postman Grin Bin day is fun aswell, we all have a number 2 on our bins!

The usual guy is excellent. He knows everyone on his route by name. I once had a thank you card for my Mother delivered to my house. It was from someone who had been to our house once, and she had been driven by someone else so only had a vague idea of where we lived. The address was

We live in a flat. We're 340, then there's 340a and 340b. All the postmen except one we had for years think we're 340a. DH has painted the number on our wall, yet we still get their post. They're always delivering our parcels upstairs too, despite me messaging them on the app, please deliver to basement flat.

I suspect some houses might end up missing post for a few days as numbers 3 and 6 are both empty at the moment.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar There are some great stories around about how good An Post are with very vague addresses. They really try to get it right and generally do, especially in rural areas where everyone knows everyone going back generations!

Our house is named after the place where it is located, eg think "White River" rather than 24 Acacia Avenue. The problem is on the opposite side of our postcode district there is another "White River" which sits in the sticks and is a rural engineering business. We often get their supplier statements, sometimes some smaller parcels and they get our Christmas cards. Our locations are 12 miles apart and there is a very large town between the two of us.

Yes, they really are very good from that point of view. They tend to leave the same postpeople on the same route for a long time, we moved here 11 years ago and we still have the same one. He was a redhead when we moved here and he's grey now (I don't think we caused that). Grin Plus they take great pride in knowing everybody's name, like everybody not just the household surname. So when an oddly addressed letter comes along they can mentally run through all the Antoinettes or Noels and have a good idea of which of them might be the right one.
