Just seen this. The London assembly are doing a consultation on public toilets in London. I personally find it a nightmare in so many places and this is something that I think impacts women more, if they have children or even long after..!

Please can I encourage you to fill in the survey - it's very poorly designed but it's important the assembly get a feel for how important this is.

Theres nowhere near enough toilets. I remember walking along the Thames being bursting but the only public toilet we found was too disgusting to use. Ended up using the toilets in the tate modern. Also paid to use toilets at Victoria Station and they were so disgusting I couldn't use them either and wanted my money back 😂

Like the way only people living in London have an option for their location...people do travel into town from outside the m25! Anyway done. I think the loo provision in London is awful. Embarrassing.

CardiganAddict · 24/09/2021 17:33

@Melrose86 too right not only is there poor provision but what's there is just inadequate. And sometimes I just feel so unsafe too

@bestbefore great point. Consider all the people visiting as tourists, seeing family, work trips or regular commutters of whom many must be outside of London, this is a big oversight.

So many of the lovely Victorian toilet blocks that were built under the pavement (you go down steps into them and they used to have an attendant in a small room looking after them) have been locked up and allowed to go derelict, or have been turned into weird trendy bars.

I don't really like the free standing electronic toilets (though they are better than nothing) as the doors take so long to open and close and seem so erratic that you start worrying that they aren't working properly.

I suffer from OBS (Overactive Bladder Syndrome) and knowing that there are available toilets allows me to go places.

Thank you for sharing this, I've completed it.

@Will0wtree oh god, those electric ones are really anxiety inducing! I have a fear they'll just open up randomly 🤣
I only have an ordinary post child bladder and even then still have trouble, provision just be even hairier for someone with an overactive bladder.
