Nice hotel and less spending money or not as nice hotel and more spending money?

Going to Newcastle next Sunday for a day shopping /food/cocktails etc
I have a dilemma
1.stay in malmaison hotel and it's £95 for a double room
Or
2.stay in easy hotel for £35 for a double night.

What would you do?
Both on the quayside and good locations but obviously option 2 is v basic

You may have riff raff staying in the cheap hotel so avoid.

Malmaison all day long!

Are you staying on Sat or Sun night?

We have been looking at going for drinks at Above (I think that's the top of the Vermont )
Mostly nice food and cocktails on Sunday then Monday doing some shopping.

We are getting the train as we only live in Middlesbrough so it's just over a hour away

Staying the Sunday night

Look at jury's inn, they often have rooms for. £45 , nr the station so nice and easy to get too.
