8yo with swollen knee

My 8yr DS has come home from school today complaining of pain on the side of his kneecap. He said it started hurting yesterday but didn't tell anyone, then this afternoon it got worse and he has been unable to weight bear since. He had to sit in the buggy to get home!

We've given him ibuprofen and he has no other symptoms, but his knee does look slightly swollen.

Should also add for full disclosure that he is autistic, so not always able to express his thoughts/feelings.

I'm happy to wait til the morning to see how he is, and get him seen by the GP if he still can't weight bear. DH wants to take him to MIU this evening.

Am I being a neglectful mum by waiting til morning?

Should also add that he can bend the knee, just not weight bear.

Been here with DS1, booked a GP appointment and they sent us straight to a and e as it can be septic arthritis. Best get it checked
