Are paid online dating sites better than free ones?

I know that's like asking how long is a piece of string? But in general, are the paid ones better as in people are more serious about meeting someone as opposed to hook ups?

Joined plenty of fish and so far unimpressed...

I think most of the people are on all the sites, at least my sister said she saw the same faces so no I don’t think it does,

In my experience (which was ages ago) sites like the guardian soulmates (no longer exists sadly) had a significantly smaller pool overall- due to fees no doubt- but the quality was pretty high overall (found my dh there!).
But I found it far less overwhelming with the smaller pool so I’d say yeah def worth paying for the pricier sites

Guardian Soulmates, which I miss, was brilliant. I met someone 3 years ago and that, date wasn’t great but we stayed in touch all that time. Met yesterday and it felt lovely!
The quality of men was much higher on GSM than anything I’ve seen on Tinder and Bumble. However, I see the same faces on all apps at the mo. I didn’t find any benefit to paying for Bumble.
