Dd turns 13 in a few weeks time and despite us encouraging her to have a party she has asked for a day out in Exeter, our nearest city.

She’s had a few friend issues/regroupings since going back to school after the hols and has, on the whole quite sad for the last week so I’d like this trip to be fun and memorable day out for her

We are fairly rural so even just the fact that is has a big Urban Outfitters, Flying Tiger etc is enough for her to be quite excited but I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions or things to do or places to eat that might make the day special.

(We will be getting the train is so looking for ideas that are fairly central)

Canoe or kayak hire www.sadpad.com/paddlesports-hire.html
Underground passages exeter.gov.uk/passages/
Red House Mysteries escape room
Chocolate lolly making at Chococo www.chococo.co.uk/our-chocolate-houses
Afternoon tea at The Ivy
The Board Cafe
Las Iguanas is a fun place to eat and they do mocktails which I let my teen niece have on special occasions.

Tyepyedong is a little Asian restaurant in central Exeter which is very tasty!
The waterfront on the quay does 16" pizzas, very nice after a kayak on the water.
Bowling, clip and climb, cinema, Riverside swimming pool.

Patisserie Valerie (or is it the other way round Blush) in the high street always did a lovely afternoon tea type thing with the dainty China.
Not sure if they still do but my teens and tweens loved doing that.

Highly recommend Red house productions escape rooms in King Street.

Coal in Princesshay to a lovely light bite menu and the outdoor seating is lovely ot there's a beach themed bar with sand under the tables and great music where you can get mock tails right next door.

Go Ape up at Haldon Forest looks fun to me Smile

On The Waterfront at Exeter Quayside are famous for their amazing pizzas (the size of a dustbin lid) and tapas. They've got a nice restaurant area for people who have booked and sometimes have live music outside. It's just trendy enough to make a teen feel grown up, but not so busy or raucous that it would feel intimidating.

Hope she enjoys it whatever you end up doing Grin
