What is this thing?

It is obviously some form of strap that looks very much like a belt. It has 22 holes and each one is numbered. I cannot see a situation when someone would need a belt with that many holes so I refuse to accept it is actually a belt. Unless the whole family shares on belt?

Does anyone have any ideas? It is driving me crazy. I have searched the internet and nothing. Unless it is actually just a belt.

Also why would anyone want their belt holes to be numbered?

Handbag strap? Something to do with a horse?

The holes go from 29 to 51 inches.

It could be weight loss! Each hole is an inch apart. But then you would think they would correspond the numbers to the size…

What's the distance between each hole?

Stirrup strap. Numbered so you can adjust whilst on the horse and can easily see that each side is the same length. Rather than trying to count holes.

You need 2- one each side of the horse, attach stirrup irons, once on horse and comfy you can adjust the length to suit your leg length/ activity - unless you have one leg longer than the other ( which can happen) they are usually on the same number. If you change what you are doing ie doing lots of galloping you probably need to make your stirrups shorter - it’s easy whilst on the horse if you know what number is comfortable to save messing about and just adjust them

Neck strap/balance strap for horses or stirrup strap.

The numbers are spaced an inch apart so it could be. It just doesn’t seem to make much sense in my head… if you are at number 1 then you have a 51 inch waist and number 22 is a 29 inch waist.

Yeah stirrup leather. Numbered so you can make sure that they are done up level with each other on both sides. Some horses stand funny, and people have different length legs, so it helps that they're numbered.

Stirrups- could be put to use as a belt or a belt on a dress - handbag/clutch strap - or some quirky way to hold something up in the home - like around some old vintage books in brown paper or something
