**
No fun gained in stuffing myself with nutritionally defunct food and then feeling like shit for a few hours, and obviously then the next morning when your bowels let it be known what they think of it

Dunno, I prefer to get my fun elsewhere. Strange I know.

@SaborDeSoledad

This is Mumsnet, so the right answer is a single chip between one family of 4...
erm. actually the proper answer is pre-faced with an explanation alogn the lines of:

We NEVER go to MacDonald's, but we'd actually been walking for 15h ours in the driving rain, and the kids were starving, because they'd eaten all of their lentil based, vegan low fat, organic snacks about 14 hours ago...we really wouldn't have gone to McDs but when we finally stumbled across a place to eat, it was the only place open. I tried to forage for some berries in the bushes around, but it was the middle of winter, so after nibbling a few twigs, it was the absolute only choice we had... so we went inside and warmed up, and asked for small kid portion of chips NO SALT, and we shared a chip. We threw the rest away because they were obviously disgusting, fat laden fake potato products. We were surrounded by the underclass stuffing their faces full of burgers, chips, nuggets (because, these are the only items you can buy in MacDonalds. Such things as salad, carrots, apples, pineapple, organic milk etc OBVIOUSLY don't exist in the McDs.)

I still cry myself to sleep at night 4 years later thinking about the awful food that my children ate that day.

@hamstersarse no you clearly get your fun from being holier than thou on lighthearted thread on Mumsnet

Nope! I don't.

I used to, like I say. But I have found food to be the greatest healer of all time, better than any medicine, and given my genetics aren't exactly geared up for longevity, I just don't bother with UPF at all any more. I don't miss it in any way. Never crave it. Don't want it. My whole family are the same though so that makes it easier. I have a 16 year old DS who has not eaten any junk food for over a year - that is true too. You could not get him to eat a McDonalds either. But he eats fresh meat (including things like liver, heart) vegetables, fruit and raw honey.

You do realise how the whole world is geared up to pour shit food into us when you don't eat it - our food environment is really horrendous, crap food literally at every turn - so yes, going out to eat is more difficult, but it is possible.[/quote]
what is "junk" about (for example) a side salad with grilled chicken and a bag of apple slices.

So what does atypical day look like for you food wise?

hamstersarse · 23/09/2021 09:44

@00100001

Veganism isn't healthy imo

We are more of a steak house tbh. Big juicy ones. So don't worry, we aren't actually starving, quite the opposite.

You might have a point!

I do hate people blindly eating food that has been sold to them as harmless. I feel they have been duped by clever marketing. And yes it pisses me off.

I'll leave you all to your fun

00100001 · 23/09/2021 10:33

what's harmful about eating a grilled burger and chips?

00100001 · 23/09/2021 10:34

what's harmful about eating a grilled burger and chips , or chicken and salad, or a bag of apple slices.... ?

Nothing, but most of the posts here a lot more than a burger and chips.
PurpleDaisies · 23/09/2021 10:52

An interesting question would be how often people are actually eating this sort of blow out meal. For me it’s a rare treat.

Getting an Indian or Chinese take away doesn’t seem to attract such hate when I can easily imagine the healthiness of those are pretty similar.

Bluntness100 · 23/09/2021 11:42

This is a tad hypocritical given you were on a thread the other day saying that we shouldn't bother about moderating the competitive undereating posts despite the fact that they are massively triggering for people with eating disorders. Suggesting someone water loads instead of eating (as an example of something I've read on this site) is just as unhealthy as some of the binges posted on here. You can't slate the over eating posts without recognising the same harm that the under eating ones cause.

I think you’re either confusing me with someone else or you need to re read the thread, my point on that thread was very clearly that both under and over are unacceptable and that we should address both, and that these over eating/bingeing threads like this one are also damaging

I don’t know who suggested water loading and if you’re trying to imply it was me then I think you know it wasn’t.

You can attack all you wish but bingeing threads like this are no more acceptable than under eating ones.

Bluesheep8 · 23/09/2021 12:12

I have only had KFC twice and it was rank both times. 🤮Wouldn't bother again.

I thought the thread was about McDonald's?

Comefromaway · 23/09/2021 12:14

My usual Maccies for tea on the night I have to take ds to his singing lesson is

9 nuggets
Medium Fries
Side salad
Bottle of water

SirenSays · 23/09/2021 12:15

Gosh everything really does become a fight on this site doesn't it.

Yeah I'm the nutter who gets the dogs a Maccas, cant leave them out 😂 It's a rare treat and they obviously love it. They get a few unsalted fries and a plain hamburger or some chicken nuggets, and if the toy is a soft one they'll play with that too. It's not all that rare though, the delivery guys always guess that it's for the dog.

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/09/2021 12:58

I suppose it depends on occurrence. People who undereat or restrict food intake are more likely to be doing so systematically and due to body image issues and disordered eating - which is worthy of concern. The time one poster ate 7 Big Macs whilst incredibly stoned, and another ate several Happy Meals as a bet, and I ate 60 chicken nuggets after an ultramarathon were one offs, and I suspect most of the other examples were very occasional, too.

Obvs if you’re eating three full McD’s meals in one go twice a week and then polishing off a packet of biscuits when you get home, this is not healthy behaviour, but nobody here seems to be indicating they do.

Workinghardeveryday · 23/09/2021 13:04

My exh once had an eating competition in mcds.

He lost but he did eat 13 large Big Mac meals (not all the drinks though). I think he cheated really because he didn’t get bacon on the Big Macs....😂.

frenchiemummy92 · 23/09/2021 13:15

@SirenSays mine get one too 🤣.

midsomermurderess · 23/09/2021 13:40

I'd get killer indigestion from of these. It's not competitive undereating, I'd just be knocked for six if I even tried it

RickOShay · 23/09/2021 13:43

@hamstersarse
I didn’t say fat shaming made you fat. I said that it didn’t help people lose weight, and actually could make things worse.
And yes while I have my McDonalds blow out, I’m not actually overweight FYI, not that it would matter if I was.
Don’t look down on people with weight issues, and don’t look down on people who like McDonalds. There is far far worse stuff to get irate and judgemental about.
And just to remind you the comment was ‘fat pigs’
Not nice is it?

Bluntness100 · 23/09/2021 13:51

It isn’t a race to th bottom, it’s not well they are worse than me so nah nah nah.

None of it is good. These competitive bingeing threads are way way more prevalent on here than under eating ones.

Sure someone ran an ultra marothon or someone was stoned, but there’s a high change that many of the people posting they can eat three large McDonald meals and sides with a milk shake chaser will have weight or food issues, so no one should be acting like it’s all a bit of fun to binge on thousands of calories. Just like no one should be acting like it’s ok to starve yourself. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

gunnersgold · 23/09/2021 14:05

That's a lot of food ! Do you not feel sick after all that milk? 🤔

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/09/2021 15:32

@pumpkinsandcoffee

Not to rain on anyone's parade- but just want to point that some of the McD meals are ludicrously unhealthy. The big tasty burger they have in at the moment as 850 calories and 50g of fat Confused given that most people would order that as a meal with chips and a drink, that's not a very nutritionally balanced way to eat almost a days worth of calories.

I think going to McDs is about making smart choices, so you don't have to fast for the rest of the day.

No, REALLY? I never knew they were unhealthy until you came along to enlighten me! Thanks soooo much. Hmm
fantasmasgoria1 · 23/09/2021 15:35

None because I don't like it.

It is, but a few people said that kfc was much nicer than mcdonalds so i was just disagreeing. Didn't realise i had to stick to the topic in the op. Confused
