Contact less car key has been for a ride in the washing machine

DS's key for my car

It wasn't working when it came out but after 25 hours in a bowl of rice is now working.

Is this a temporary recovery likely to fail again or should it be OK now? I'm worried about one of us getting stranded miles from home without a working car key, but it's c. £150 for a new one so I'd rather not replace it unnecessarily.

I don't mean contactless, do I? I mean keyless.

I went swimming three times with mine.

Mine has been left in a bucket of water for an hour this week. I dried it out and I have ordered a new battery. Its still working but not quite so responsive!

I can unlock and start my car by using an app on my phone. Is this something that would work for your car?

Actually I just looked and it's one or the other. Can't seem to do both together. So can unlock car or can start engine to warm up but the doors need to be locked. Makes sense really!
