Another A&E one

Sorry this will probably result in me being told I’m stupid and what’s the point in asking but here goes.

DS came off his scooter yesterday. Nasty chunk out of one knee which was bleeding quite heavily. He said the leg ached. Bathed it, dressed the wound and he limped about. He complained of pretty strong pain so I gave pain killers. This morning he went to school with a serious limp, said the pain wasn’t the knee really but the leg, and hard to describe. He’s just emailed me saying it’s still really bad, he’d had an ice pack but it hasn’t helped. There’s no visible swelling. So should we go to A&E or not? I don’t think it seems broken, he can walk albeit not easily and with pain. But he has a high pain threshold and never complains so I’m not sure.

Any thoughts?

I would take him to be checked out. He might have a fracture?

Ring 111, they can triage you and get him seen if required, can also get an appointment at minor injuries via 111. Much better that waiting for hours at a&e.

I would take him to get checked out to be fair. It might just be badly bruised but it's best to be certain.

Thank you all, really appreciate the opinions. 111 is a great idea, I’ll try that. It’s been a heck of a week, I’m just not thinking straight otherwise I’d be much more capable and decisive I promise!

Could need crutches whilst it heals.
